Graves in the heart of Old Town: possible historic cemetery uncovered on Walnut Street
Demolition crews clearing the old furniture store at 110 N. Walnut Street uncovered what appear to be early-1900s headstones — in a town once famous for having no cemetery at all. UPDATE: An independent investigation has concluded no cemetery ever existed on the site — the stones were likely discarded headstones repurposed as construction material long ago.
