German Heritage Festival Returns to Old Town Tomball March 27–29

March 10, 2026 By The Tomball Times

Old Town Tomball’s most beloved annual tradition is back. The Tomball German Heritage Festival returns to the Historic Train Depot Plaza and Market Street on March 27–29, 2026 — and as always, admission, parking, and the shuttle are completely free.

What to Expect

The festival takes over South Elm Street, Market Street, and South Walnut Street in the heart of Old Town Tomball, transforming the district into a three-day celebration of the community’s deep German immigrant roots. This year, more than 163 vendors will line the streets selling German heritage items, handmade arts and crafts, food, and one-of-a-kind finds you won’t see anywhere else.

Four live music stages keep the energy going all weekend. On Saturday, the fun kicks off at 11 a.m. with the traditional parade down Market Street, followed by the ceremonial tapping of the keg and the Willkommen ceremony welcoming German exchange students and their Tomball host families — a reminder of the living cultural connection that makes this festival more than just a street fair.

Festival Hours

  • Friday, March 27: 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 28: 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. (parade at 11 a.m.)
  • Sunday, March 29: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Getting There

The festival is located at 201 S. Elm Street in Old Town Tomball, steps from the Historic Train Depot Plaza. Free parking is available throughout the area, and a free shuttle runs from the east parking lot of HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball — on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

A Tradition Worth Keeping

The German Heritage Festival has been a cornerstone of Old Town Tomball’s identity for decades, drawing tens of thousands of visitors from across the Houston metro each spring. It’s one of the few community events where you can hear an accordion on one corner, browse handmade pottery on the next, and grab a plate of sausage and sauerkraut somewhere in between — all within a few blocks of the same depot where the I-GN Railroad first put Tomball on the map over a century ago.

Whether you’re a longtime regular or making your first trip to Old Town, this is the weekend to be here.
